It was 1995 when I met pianist Marie-Andree Ostiguy and producer Donald MacLean. Marie-Andree was performing at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River where I was publicist. She had released two recordings of original compositions - 'Montreal Concerto' recorded in Montreal and Paris, France, under the artistic direction of Eddy Marnay, and with musicians of the Metropolitan Orchestra, conducted by Bruno Fontaine. The second was 'Tandem' which I often play while driving among the mountains here in British Columbia.
And so it was yesterday as I drove by Slocan Lake, Summit Lake and the Arrow Lakes as mist and clouds surrounded the valleys and snow-covered mountaintops. Then, a few rays of sunshine came pouring through a gap in the clouds creating an awesome, breath-taking sight. The music from Tandem added to the magnificence of the moment, wrapping me in the glory of nature, presenting such splendour - through the mists... It was a magical moment.
Thank you Marie-Andree for the magic in your music.
